An Introduction

Shaunez Benting is a visual artist from the Cape Flats. His paintings return to childhood — happy spaces found amidst chaos, often set in the 1970s — and to the colour of South Africa's recent past. For Shaunez, art is integral to society, a thread running from rock paintings to the present, and he hopes his work brings viewers back to a time before computers.
