Nina Kay is a South African visual artist and educator whose practice moves between painting and pottery. Mostly self-taught, they are drawn to colour, layering and organic imagery rooted in the natural world, using art to ground inner experience in visual form.
Their practice has grown through independent studio work, artist residencies and collaborative projects in South Africa and Belgium.
Finding Home is a joyful meditation on home, belonging and shared journeys. The twelve paintings were made during a month-long residency in Aarschot, Belgium, far from home in the winelands.
Each piece was painted on repurposed fabric, brought back to South Africa, gently stitched to honour the journey, and restretched onto salvaged wooden panels. Together they are small windows into home as something we carry, long for and return to.
