An Introduction

Treasure Mlima is a visual artist based in eThekwini, Durban. Born in 1999, he works primarily with carved wood — translating mental states through intricate carving, oil-based ink, and acrylic paint on Supawood panels. His figures sit between abstraction and recognition, resisting fixed identity in favour of fluid states of presence. For Treasure, the body is a site of knowing; the practice is a bridge between what is shown and what stays obscured.
